About the method

Savvy Ed is a method addressed to primary school kids who are entering a period of rapid emotional and intellectual development. This means that our approach has been designed to accommodate the evolving needs of this age group, while keeping communication at the centre.

How we teach

The Savvy Ed method is based on a variety of teaching techniques. The coursebook and workbook contain a large number of texts and exercises, as well as rhymes and sets of instructions that serve as a source of vocabulary and conversational phrases. We focus on repeated revision and consolidation of material, as well as listening comprehension and communication.

We motivate our young learners and foster a sense of accomplishment through a carefully designed evaluation system, while helping parents keep track of their child’s progress.

Communication as a priority

Children realise that English is the language of international communication. They become increasingly fluent and comfortable speaking English and they’re not afraid of making mistakes, which significantly enhances their progress.

Challenging material, an enjoyable learning experience

Classes are taught in small groups to get children actively involved while maintaining high educational standards. We combine harmonious language development with lots of fun.

Parent-teacher collaboration

Parents of Savvy Ed students can expect to have regular contact with the teacher and to be kept informed of their child’s progress. The teacher provides regular information to parents by email or in the online gradebook, and prepares written reports for parents at the end of each term.

The continuation of an ambitious educational pathway

Savvy Ed is the second of three methods that make up our learning pathway. For older children there is the Edward’s League method. The continuity in the learning process ensures a consistently high level of language teaching and means that our students have the best possible chance of passing their Cambridge exams.

Why Savvy Ed?

The Savvy Ed method is based on a variety of teaching techniques. The coursebook and the workbook are a rich source of vocabulary and conversational phrases and our classes focus on repeated revision and consolidation of material, listening comprehension and communication.

Students improve their language proficiency, gradually acquiring reading and writing skills, and mastering grammatical forms that are both set in context and put into practice. We motivate our young learners and foster a sense of accomplishment with the help of a carefully designed evaluation system that also allows parents to keep track of their child’s progress.

How did Savvy Ed come about? / About the authors

Savvy Ed is a licensed method of teaching intended for children aged 8-11 who are continuing their English education. Diana Kubica, author of the Teddy Eddie method, was quick to recognise the need to provide a follow-up programme for students who wished to continue their learning after a challenging preschool course like Teddy Eddie. She tested the first books of the new method on her own son, and… they were a success!

Together with Ola Komada, she has developed the Savvy Ed method to comprehensively address the language development needs of children in the early years of primary school and to support teachers working with this age group.
